She is the first CEO in the organization’s 80-year history that is living with type 2 diabetes, and is committed to stopping the diabetes epidemic.

She authored the book, "Automated Insulin Delivery: How artificial pancreas "closed loop" systems can aid you in living with diabetes", to help more people understand automated insulin delivery systems.

John Buse, MD, PhD is the Verne S. Caviness Distinguished Professor, Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Director of the Diabetes Center, Director of the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. Dr. Buse completed service as President for Medicine & Science at the American Diabetes Association in 2008 and as Chair of the National Diabetes Education Program in 2014. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2010 Castle Connolly National Physician of the Year Award and the 2019 American Diabetes Association Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Diabetes Research Award. He has authored more than 400 publications.

Kristin Skiados was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 5 and was re-diagnosed with KATP in 2018. Her daughter, Ava, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 1 and re-diagnosed with KATP at age 9. Kristin is a member of MDRAP (Monogenic Diabetes Research and Advocacy Project) aimed to promote the correct diagnosis of types of diabetes caused by genetic mutations.

Dr. Smith is the Deputy Director of the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases, and Director of the Office of Obesity Research at the U.S. National Institutes of Health. He chairs two trans-NIH consortia, the Metabolomics Program and the 4D-Nucleome Program. Dr. Smith helped develop and now co-chairs the AMP-T2D, an innovative collaboration between NIH and pharmaceutical companies focused on translating genetic discoveries into novel therapeutic targets.

Rasmus Rabøl has several years of experience in drug development within diabetes and obesity. During his ten years with Novo Nordisk he has held positions within clinical development and project management and is currently head of the area of Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Medicine. Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Dr. Rabøl worked in internal medicine, and he earned his PhD in endocrinology from the University of Copenhagen while working part time for the Danish Medicines Agency.
